Children are given free develpmental screenings beginning at 4 months of age through kindergarten entry. Avance services include: referrals to community resources or specialists; Parents-as-Teachers in-home visiting; parent-child playgroups; parent dialogues; parent counseling; support for selected project preschool classrooms; and support for participating family child care homes. First 5 Monterey County launched the project with funding from First 5 California.
